John was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He joined the Army when he was 19 years old and started his career at Fort Knox, KY. After serving in Germany, California, New York, and Iraq John finished his career, coming full circle back to Fort Knox. While at Fort Knox, John and his wife Karin realized how much they enjoyed being in Louisville. They decided to make it the last stop in his military career, and he retired after 20 years as a 1SG. While serving, John obtained an Associate’s Degree from Barstow Community College and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Sullivan University.
Since retirement, John has continued to serve by working for the Department of the Army’s Casualty and Mortuary Affairs Division. In his current role he supervises a Team of five who ensure families of fallen soldiers receive their benefits and entitlements. John is also an active member of the Highview Fire Protection District, where he serves as a Lieutenant out of their Station 3. He has also served as a member of the Highview Fire Protection District’s Board of Trustees and on a number of community committees.
When not at work, or at the Firehouse, John enjoys spending time with his wife Karin, children (Alexis and Patrick), and 5 Dogs (Layla, Emmie, Mitchell, Rowan, and Bobo).
