2023 Be at Ease Event

Dogs Helping Heroes is proud to announce that we will be hosting our 6th annual “Be at Ease” event, at The TEN20 Craft Brewery, November 6th, at 6pm. Please join us for food, drink, a raffle drawing, auction items, and meet some of our AMAZING Hero Teams! Remembering our visionary…His passion will continue to be our mission

The Dogs Helping Heroes family lost its prime founder David Scott Benson in a tragic motorcycle accident Wednesday, July 6.  David was a young man with an old soul.  He was always reaching, through intense thoughts, for more.  He wanted more for others and more for himself.  David brought eight of us together to form the initial Dogs Helping Heroes board of directors, to apply for non-profit status, and to begin to crawl this terrific idea of raising funds to provide service dogs for wounded veterans, first responders, and Gold Star families.  Together we all [...]

Michael Baker joins Dogs Helping Heroes Board of Directors

Michael was born and raised in Montrose, PA where he graduated from Penn State University in 1987 and 1992 with two degrees in Engineering.  Michael joined the US Army Reserves in 1989 and served 31 years, two mobilizations in a variety of positions around the country before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel from Fort Knox, KY in February 2020.   On the civilian side Michael works for GE Appliances as a Senior Director in Finance, where he supports a variety of enterprises to include First Build at UofL, Technology, IT, Water Heater and Small Appliances.  [...]

DHH Welcomes new Volunteer Coordinator

We are excited to introduce our new Volunteer Coordinator, Rachel McKinney! She works in Human Resources at First Savings Bank in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Her husband is Matt McKinney, Sergeant First Class assigned as Operations NCO for the 1st Squadron, 152nd Cavalry for the Indiana Army National Guard. Deployed to Iraq in 2007 and Afghanistan in 2009 to 2010. They have 2 fur babies a cat and a dog. We are so happy to have her as a volunteer to our organization.
