Rescue

Dogs Helping Heroes acquires dogs from local shelters and rescue groups. We are proud to have successful working relationships with both Adopt Me Pet Rescue and Piece of My Heart Rescue. Both organizations are skilled in recognizing the traits that make a rescue dog a good candidate for service work, and have generously donated some wonderful dogs to our cause.

Piece of My Heart Rescue

This organization was started because its founder wanted to offer the public a well rounded, properly assessed dog. She is upfront about the dog’s age, temperament and health. At this facility, rescue dogs are made as healthy as possible, groomed and trained, and evaluated for their personality and habits. Our dog, Cash, was obtained from Piece of My Heart Rescue, which recognized his potential as a service dog early on. He “graduated” from Duffy’s Dog Training Center’s post-traumatic stress disorder service-training program, and was recently paired with a Vietnam Veteran suffering from PTSD.
