Trayce is our first Gold Star Family placement. Trayce is the nephew of Sgt. Michael Cable. Michael was killed in Afghanistan on 3/27/13. He was 26 yrs. old when he passed. Trayce has an unknown disease that causes him to have mitochondrial dysfunction, restrictive lung disease, gastroparesis, and learning disabilities. He was faced with the decision of using his Make a Wish for a service dog or an adventure with his family. A friend of Trayce's family put him in contact with Dogs Helping Heroes, he completed the application process and was awarded a service dog named Tomi.
Tomi helps pick up things for Trayce, helps him sit and stand, and provides comfort to Trayce during all of his appointments. He accompanies Trayce to school and physical therapy. He has given Trayce more independence and confidence.
