Zoey was adopted from a family located in the Louisville area and Nick has had Zoey since she was 8 weeks old. Nick brought Zoey to his interview with Dogs Helping Heroes and it was noted that she was a great candidate for service work.Zoey and Nick already had an incredible bond and with the training they received from the Dogs Helping Heroes program, Zoey is now a certified service dog.
Zoey helps Nick with several psychological issues that he has such as post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. Prior to working with Zoey, one of Nicks greatest hurdles was going out into public and being surrounded by large crowds of people. Zoey's service commands such as shield and rear help Nick overcome this fear and encourage Nick to participate in everyday activities that he had previously struggled with. Nick was introduced to DHH by fellow member Justin. Nick say he is proud to be a member of Dogs Helping Heroes and considers it a tremendous honor to be associated with such a fine organization.
