Mark and Ginger

Mark and Ginger

Meet Ginger. Ginger was found wandering the forests of Harrison County Indiana. Her first year of life is uncertain. Southern Indiana Animal Rescue took her in and found her a foster home.

She was then introduced to the organization Dogs Helping Heroes. Dogs Helping Heroes with the help of Adopt Me Bluegrass Pet Rescue placed Ginger in the Paws Behind Bars program for her basic obedience training.

Meanwhile Mark and his family were also introduced to the organization and Executive Director David Benson, who helps heroes, find the perfect match.

David knew he had to find a rather large dog to fit Marks mobility issues.

Along came Ginger and David knew he had found the perfect match.

From day one, Ginger fit right in. She had found her forever home and Mark had found the perfect canine companion. With Gingers help, Mark and his family are once again starting to get out and enjoy life.

Update: As the result of an unfortunate accident Ginger was laid to rest in the summer of 2018. Mark will be matched with another service dog when he is ready. Ginger was a loved member of the family and her presence is missed.
